DJ Solitare
Mark has been involved with Psychedelic Trance since he first heard it in Tokyo in 1994. He moved to London in 1996, where he became more involved with the Trance scene and contributed to Dream Creation magazine. His writings, which included interviews with Cydonia and Quirk, brought him recognition by several of trance's top artists for his clear exposés on the state of psychedelic trance music and reviews of various events.
He moved back to Tokyo in 1998, where he became a resident at 3 regular parties and developed an underground following as DJ Solitare. He has played in London, Zurich, Bangkok, Tokyo, Montreal, Calgary, Victoria, and Vancouver with a variety of international artists such as X-Dream, Stefan Holweck (Total Eclipse/Digital Mystery Tour), Gabriel LeMar (Montauk P/Saafi Brothers), Jez (Laughing Buddha), Nick Taylor (Snake Thing), Masa, Domino, and Psyquest (Mad Stof).
Mark's extensive experience with classical music gives him an added insight when mixing electronic music, allowing him to play with a wide harmonic and structural range of music blended in a unique way. His knowledge of spiritual, psychological, and sacred space allows him to bring a metaphysical dimension to his presentation of music. While always interested in new music, he recognizes the roots of psychedelic trance and therefore balances his sets in a way that projects the original musical and existential vibrations of this vision into his sets. He relishes longer sets (three or four hours on average) to allow for the greatest possible integration of different musical languages into a meaningful story with a palpable sense of identity.
